The Union of Secular Families is a family association within the meaning of Article L211-1 of the French Social Action and Family Code and one of seven general recruitment movements of the National Union of Family Associations (UNAF). UFAL is an accredited association for: - "Youth and Popular Education" by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Associative Life. - representing users of the healthcare system in hospital or public health bodies by the Ministry of Health. The role of UFAL is to: - define and defend the rights and material and moral interests of families, represent them in all circumstances, act on their behalf and intervene, particularly with public authorities, semi-public bodies, local governments and public institutions. - act with all partners that constitute social life, in order to guarantee the material and moral rights of families and children, in respect of secularism, the State and society. The principles upheld by UFAL: UFAL considers the family as a social construct that brings together people based on their desires, their history and the constraints of their economic and social environment.
