Founded in 2017 by Laurence Fischer (World Karate Champion), Fight for Dignity has created and developed a therapeutic approach through adapted physical activity—karate. Far from self-defense, we support women who have experienced violence in reclaiming their bodily sensations, reconnecting body and mind, and regaining confidence and self-esteem through adapted karate workshops. The effectiveness of our innovative method was demonstrated by scientific research conducted between 2019 and 2023 with the University of Strasbourg. Fight for Dignity, a nonprofit organization of public interest, was established following a meeting between its founder and Dr. Denis Mukwege, a gynecologist committed to fighting rape used as a weapon of war against women in his country, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, and Co-recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2018.
