As France's leading food aid network, Food Banks work every day to combat food waste and precarity. In 2025, the Orne Food Bank distributed 540 tonnes of food and hygiene products. 41 partners (municipal social services and associations) were thus able to support approximately 8,500 people in precarious situations living in the Orne department. Committed to an "outreach" approach, the Orne Food Bank has developed a digital map of the department and launched a Mobile Grocery Truck in the city of Alençon. It also launched the "Good Practices & Good Food" program in June 2025, offering cooking workshops through its partners for people receiving food aid and/or experiencing isolation. Finally, we partner with the student association "Étu'Manges" to support and supply their Solidarity Student Food Pantry within the IUT of Damigny. Our association's work is made possible through the commitment of 30 permanent volunteers, 2 paid staff members, 1 fixed-term contract worker, and 1 skills sponsorship. Each year, during collection drives organized in November and spring, more than 350 day volunteers join us to help carry out this solidarity initiative across our entire department.
