Mission description

French Popular Relief seeks volunteers to welcome visitors Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday afternoons from 1:30 PM to 5:00 PM. The goal is to reduce isolation and loneliness while providing information about association initiatives and events. You'll staff a reception desk, welcome people warmly without judgment, offer refreshments, listen, and direct them to appropriate services or resources to facilitate access to their rights.

Né en 1945, le Secours populaire est une association à but non lucratif, reconnue d’utilité publique et déclarée Grande cause nationale. Celle-ci est habilitée à recevoir des dons, des legs et des donations. L’association s'est donnée pour mission d’agir contre la pauvreté et l'exclusion en France et dans le monde et de promouvoir la solidarité et ses valeurs. Elle rassemble des personnes de toutes opinions, conditions et origines qui souhaitent faire vivre la solidarité. Le Secours populaire est particulièrement attentif aux problèmes d’exclusion : sur le court terme, par une solidarité d’urgence basée sur l’écoute, l’alimentaire, le vestimentaire. L’hébergement d’urgence ou l’orientation vers une structure de soins restent aussi au cœur des préoccupations du Secours populaire. Le SPF accompagne également sur la durée, les personnes et familles dans leurs démarches et leurs droits : accès au logement, à la santé, aux vacances, à la culture et aux loisirs, au sport, à l’insertion professionnelle. Urgence ou non, le respect de la dignité des personnes aidées est primordial pour l’association ainsi que leur mise en mouvement pour la pratique de la solidarité.
