SOS Voyageurs Aide en Gare welcomes, listens to, and guides anyone in difficulty at Lille-Flandres station, whether travelers or people experiencing homelessness. We are not railway employees but are based in the station premises. With regard to people experiencing homelessness, we direct them to the services best suited to their situation: the emergency housing hotline, family benefits office, local employment services, France Travail, and various charitable associations in Lille. We make our telephone available to them. If needed, we offer snacks and cold or hot beverages. We are looking for long-term volunteers for 3-hour shifts per week. We are open from 12pm to 6pm Monday to Friday, including during school holidays. New volunteers, after being interviewed, receive training alongside an experienced volunteer. No particular skills are required other than empathy and compassionate listening.
