The Relay for Children of Incarcerated Parents in Hauts-de-France has a mission to maintain the parent-child bond when it is broken or suspended due to the incarceration of a parent. The Relay for Children of Incarcerated Parents carries out educational and social work in response to the violence suffered by children and adolescents with an incarcerated parent. To do this: We accompany minor children to visiting hours when they have no other option than to be accompanied by a member of the association to visit their detained parent. We run parenting support workshops, which provide a space for dialogue and exchange between facilitators and incarcerated individuals in an atmosphere of trust and respect, centered on parenting issues. The workshops are also a creative space where the incarcerated parent makes objects for their child or children. We organize celebrations in detention facilities. This initiative aims to provide a two-hour festive time between children and their parent in a different context from that of standard visiting hours.
