OUVRIR LES YEUX

Welcome to Ouvrir Les Yeux, an association dedicated to supporting patients suffering from rare genetic diseases that cause blindness. Help us support patients who have lost their sight, their family members living in fear of losing theirs, and anxious parents concerned about the transmission of the disease. Ouvrir Les Yeux (OLY) is the only association member of the Rare Diseases Alliance that brings together people affected by Hereditary Optic Neuropathy (KJER and LEBER diseases). KJER disease typically develops during childhood and gradually leads to blindness. LEBER disease develops suddenly and young people affected lose their sight within days. These diseases are very little known in the medical world. The association thus works to combat diagnostic wandering and the profound isolation suffered by patients and their loved ones. OLY works for their wellbeing throughout their care and life journey, supporting them according to their specific needs, through people directly affected by the disease who are trained in listening.
