The Little Canteens is a non-profit network of neighborhood dining spaces where guests welcome and meet each other through healthy meals prepared together at a pay-what-you-wish price, in order to build quality relationships and contribute to the construction of a society founded on trust. We promote organic, seasonal, locally-sourced food from short supply chains with a predominantly plant-based focus. Our project is based on mutual aid and collective intelligence. A "little canteen" is a collective and solidarity-based space in which each guest is invited to contribute to its smooth functioning according to their abilities, free to participate in meal preparation, setting the table, clearing dishes and cleaning as well as deciding the price to pay for the meal. In Villefranche sur Saône, we will open our little canteen on the very busy forecourt of the train station. Our ambition is to help transform the train station square, just steps away from Rue Nationale, into a meeting place and hub of activity, open to all the diversity of those who pass through or live in the neighborhood: families, retirees, working professionals, students from the Beaujolais campus, and everyone else!
