The association is called La folie des gandoles and carries out the En Boite Le Plat project in Saint-Etienne. Its objective is to establish an offering of reusable and shared containers to replace single-use packaging; raise awareness about biodiversity preservation; encourage waste reduction; promote circular and local economy; and communicate about the use of single-use plastics while proposing alternatives. Gandolle: a metal lunch box for miners, also called a gandot. The En Boite Le Plat project already exists in 5 other cities in France, and has been operating in Saint-Etienne since this year. The principle is to provide food businesses in the city with returnable glass boxes for them to use as an alternative to disposable takeaway packaging.
