CONSERVATOIRE D'ESPACES NATURELS DES HAUTS-DE-FRANCE

The Natural Spaces Conservatory of Hauts-de-France is a non-profit association recognized as serving the public interest, with a mission to protect and enhance the unique natural heritage of the Hauts-de-France region. As a major player in environmental preservation, the Conservatory manages over 550 diverse natural sites—marshes, ponds, peatlands, alluvial meadows, limestone hillsides—representing nearly 17,000 hectares of protected nature, of which 1,200 hectares were acquired directly by the association. These spaces, located in the departments of Aisne, Oise, Nord, Pas-de-Calais, and Somme, are essential refuges for many threatened species and iconic landscapes. The Conservatory's missions, shared with all Natural Spaces Conservatories in France, revolve around four main objectives: understanding, protecting, managing, and enhancing natural spaces, while working hand in hand with local partners, whether public or private. Supported by its 2,000 members, the Conservatory organizes a calendar of free activities each year designed to raise awareness and engage the general public in nature protection.
