Departmental Delegates for National Education are volunteers partnering with public schools. Officially appointed by the Regional Education Director for an official volunteer role, DDENs ensure good living conditions for children at school and around school, and serve as school council members. Being a DDEN is a civic act: committing time to promote public education, children's interests, and republican principles of emancipation such as citizenship, secularism, and freedom of conscience. The delegate is a school resource person and guardian of republican values.
