In rural areas, when mobility is needed, solidarity comes first! Implemented since 2020, the Solidarity Mobility program run by the Rural Families Federation connects residents needing occasional transport with a network of volunteers. The program expanded to Touraine Ouest Val de Loire community of communes in early 2024. Residents without licenses, vehicles, or with temporary or permanent mobility limitations struggle reaching medical appointments, shopping, or visiting loved ones. The Solidarity Mobility program addresses these isolated people, young or elderly, connecting them with volunteer co-drivers.
