Worldwide, people can be gravely threatened in their country due to political engagement, gender, religion, sexual orientation or armed conflict. They may seek asylum in France. If French administration refuses, they can appeal to the National Asylum Court (CNDA). Each person whose asylum request was refused by the Office of French Protection of Refugees and Stateless Persons (OFPRA) can appeal to the CNDA. The CNDA is the court that verifies whether this refusal respects applicable law, particularly the Geneva Convention of July 28, 1951, and whether the person faces genuine risk if returned to their country.
