UMEN is an association whose mission is to enable as many people as possible to access rural and mountain environments by participating in outdoor activities. It organizes shared stays between people with disabilities and able-bodied people, organized in two divisions: The Shared Mountain division is intended for mountain and hiking enthusiasts, whether able-bodied or with motor and/or sensory disabilities. Mountain outings take place over a weekend or several days. In winter, we organize handiski outings and snowshoe hikes using ski wheelchairs and trained able-bodied skiers. In summer, hiking with Joëlettes (all-terrain wheelchairs operated by 2 to 4 able-bodied hikers) allows everyone to participate according to their physical abilities and daily group life. Conviviality and sharing are our watchwords. The Adapted Recreation division welcomes small groups of adults with intellectual disabilities, accompanied by a specialized education professional and recruited volunteer animators. We organize weekends or stays with outdoor, educational, fun and cultural activities adapted to offer them a wellness break.
