UFC-Que Choisir de la Mayenne is a consumer defense association and member of the national UFC-Que Choisir federation. It was established in 1981 and currently has 850 members. Its activities are carried out by a team of 30 volunteers who: - staff offices in Laval, Mayenne and Château-Gontier - conduct surveys - participate in informing consumers about their rights through local press and radio - represent consumers from Mayenne in approximately fifteen bodies In accordance with its bylaws, UFC-Que Choisir de la Mayenne handles only matters concerning relationships between a consumer and a professional, whether a merchant, tradesperson, or service provider. It is independent of any political, trade union, or economic authority. Its resources come primarily from membership fees and donations from its members and from national, departmental, and local subsidies, either in financial or material form. Being a volunteer at UFC-Que Choisir de la Mayenne means contributing to a fairer and more responsible society.
