SOS devoirs saint barthelemy

Our association has been in existence for 8 years. We help primary school children with their homework every evening after school from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM. These schoolchildren speak French at school and with us. They are aware that they need to work and we provide them with the means and support they need. The atmosphere is very cool and studious. As volunteers, we help with homework, we deepen their learning, and we help children become independent. For history lessons, we research anecdotes, for example. Furthermore, we discuss everything: ecology, citizenship, school bullying. A reading challenge takes place every two months: everyone reads a book and tells the story to everyone, even first graders who cannot yet read. The reward is a small gift and crêpes. Every term we organize a party with duck fishing games, knockout games, and ball throws. We are looking for volunteers to be even more effective, because working in small groups allows us to be closer to the children and to more easily spot comprehension problems.
