The Nanterre Solidarity Grocery Store helps families who are accepted through an application process and allows them to purchase groceries (food, hygiene products, etc.) at 15% of market price. Currently, over 120 families are being assisted. The "My Grocery Store" project was born following a study by the Nanterre city CCAS (Centre for Social Action) in 2015 on food assistance. Out of 95,000 residents in Nanterre, nearly 20% of the population was considered poor, representing 7,500 families or approximately 19,000 people. One in three families turns to associations that distribute food baskets such as the Restos du Cœur, Secours Populaire, Dir el Kheir, and in summer the Secours Catholique. Six associations mobilized to create, with the support of the Nanterre City Council, a specific association: Secours Catholique, Secours Populaire, the Red Cross, Dir el Kheir, Nahda, and UnisVersCités.
