Medicine and Right of Asylum 38 (MéDA 38) is a French non-profit association founded in March 2022. We build on the experience of the Medicine and Right of Asylum Lyon association, established in January 2016. The purpose of MéDA 38 is to receive asylum seekers whose applications have been rejected by OFPRA, in order to draw up and provide them with a medical certificate documenting significant evidence of past cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment, or presenting physical or psychological after-effects, or presenting particular vulnerability. MéDA 38 also aims to collect and disseminate information and documents concerning asylum law; participate in the training of healthcare professionals in caring for exiles; offer psychological support in collaboration with psychologists and psychiatrists from other organizations; and facilitate access to healthcare for exiles by building on existing medical institutions and structures.
