Founded by Coluche in 1985, the Restos du Cœur is a nonprofit association recognized as serving the public interest, officially named "les Restaurants du Cœur – les Relais du Cœur". Its mission is to help and provide voluntary assistance to disadvantaged people, particularly in the area of food through access to free meals, and by contributing to their social and economic integration, as well as taking action against poverty in all its forms. You can contribute to the fifteen aid activities implemented by the organization. In 1985, the first Restos du Cœur campaign was launched and 8.5 million meals were distributed. 39 years later, the needs of disadvantaged people remain and the 73,000 volunteers of Restos mobilize year-round to address them, working within the association's 2,333 centers. During the last campaign, the association distributed 171 million balanced meals to 1.3 million people served (2022-2023).
