Les francas des alpes maritimes

A popular education movement, the National Federation of Francas is an association that complements schooling, recognized as being in the public interest and officially approved by the ministries of National Education, Youth and Sports. Since 1944, the Francas have brought together men and women committed to social emancipation for children and young people, pioneering new fields of activity and often leading the way. Many concepts born from the reflection and action of the Francas have since been developed by public authorities, and even by the commercial sector: secular community centers, extracurricular activities, summer camps, school-based leisure centers and later recreation centers, local educational projects, and so on. Since 1994, the Francas have intensified their action in favor of developing local educational initiatives: local projects for children, educational outreach, local networks for children, and local agencies for children and youth.
