The Sauternes Ancient Music Center (CMAS) brings together numerous activities related to ancient, baroque, and classical music, encompassing both educational activities and artistic production and dissemination in rural settings. Located in a building in the heart of Sauternes, in Gironde, it enables children, young people, and adults—beginner and experienced amateurs, young professionals in training, professional musicians, and informed practitioners—to discover, deepen their knowledge of, practice, and perform these musical repertoires through structured, clearly defined, and accredited programs. The CMAS was founded from the desire of the association Les Fils du Tonaire, established in 2000, to consolidate its numerous activities and make them available to a broader audience. The CMAS is home to the ensemble Les Chantres de Saint-Hilaire Sauternes, which serves as its permanent resident ensemble.
