The association was founded in November 1997, at the initiative of an Italian dancer: Natalia Fontana. With the goal of developing choreographic art in general, she undertook to create an association that would offer classes for all ages and levels in order to broaden its audience, raise awareness of contemporary dance, and encourage enthusiasts to develop their creativity by participating in short choreographic creations presented at various cultural events held in Paris. Recognized as a Youth and Popular Education organization since 2004, L'Aquilone develops its projects in community centers, municipal halls, elementary schools, and outdoor gardens. It also carries out projects such as the Dance Encounters of the 13th, a dance performance at the Le Stadium gymnasium that brings together other dance structures of different styles located in the 13th arrondissement.
