The Heritage Foundation, created by the law of July 2, 1996, is an independent private non-profit organization whose mission is to safeguard and promote French heritage at risk, both public and private, essentially unprotected and rural. Organized in a decentralized manner through regional and departmental branches currently run by 1,500 volunteers and 110 employees, it supports heritage restoration projects by contributing to their financing. For over 25 years, it has organized fundraising campaigns and corporate sponsorship initiatives to preserve both private and public heritage, whether built, natural, industrial, or moveable property.
