The Charles-Péguy Center is an association that welcomes young people and adults located in Garges-lès-Gonesse, in Val-d'Oise. Its mission is to stand alongside schools and families for children and young people in the neighborhood by supporting them through academic tutoring, games and activities during school holidays, helping them deepen their French language skills in speaking and writing, and developing their autonomy and self-confidence. French classes and sewing and computer workshops, which attract many adults from the neighborhood, are spaces for exchange and aim to simplify the daily lives of these adults so they can make themselves understood while shopping, find employment more easily, help their children with school, and much more—so they can learn to discover and love France and its culture. The Charles-Péguy Center aspires to be an intermediary between schools, the community and families to help young people and older adults integrate more easily into France while preserving the culture and traditions of their countries of origin. Thus, it is a place that seeks to combat exclusion, delinquency and violence in all its forms.
