To develop a culture of commitment and to strengthen the responsibility and autonomy of young people. It constitutes a service rendered to the nation and its objectives are to: ° promote the values of citizenship among young French people, aged 16 to 18 years, legally residing or studying in Vendée; ° prepare members for the role of national gendarmerie cadets, introduce them to the gendarmerie, its values, its missions, its personnel and thus enable them to gain better knowledge of the Armed Force (another name given to the National Gendarmerie); ° strengthen the Army-Nation link, following the suspension of national service; ° develop civic spirit through collective projects in the areas of environmental protection, sporting activities, solidarity, respect for differences and openness to others; ° open the cadet class to young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or facing difficult circumstances to offer them a genuine opportunity for social integration and advancement;
