The Food Bank of Finistère was established in 1991 in Quimper by Jean Larzul, a retired canner. Subsequently, a branch was created in Brest to improve distribution in the North Finistère area. The two warehouses in Quimper and Brest ensure the storage of dry goods. They are also equipped with refrigeration facilities for storing fresh products (+4°) and frozen goods (-25°). Compliance with the cold chain and expiration dates (best before and use by dates) receive constant attention. More than a hundred volunteers, distributed across the two sites, along with 2 employees, ensure the distribution of products to 143 partners: 100 local social action centers, 31 associations, 7 social grocery stores, and 5 solidarity grocery stores.
