For 35 years, Food Banks have been fighting poverty and food insecurity. They are France's leading food aid network. The Paris and Île-de-France Food Bank is an association governed by the 1901 law, recognized as serving the public interest, which throughout the year collects and manages food items from European and national funds, industrial companies, supermarkets, and individuals through the annual national collection drive. It distributes these food items to partner associations. The 12 employees and approximately 100 volunteers of BAPIF carry out their mission according to the founding principles of food banks: free service, sharing, donation, and fighting food waste. The volume of food distributed to associations amounts to 6,548 tons, helping 259,600 people.
