A historic actor in aid for visually impaired persons, the Valentin Haüy Association, founded in 1889 and recognized as a public utility organization in 1891, is a founding member of the Charter Committee for Trustworthy Giving and accredited by this body. For over 130 years, it has deployed a wide range of services and initiatives throughout France in order to: • Defend the rights of visually impaired persons, • Ensure their training and access to employment, • Restore and develop their autonomy, • Promote access to written materials, • Offer accessible cultural, sporting and leisure activities. More than 120 departmental and local committees of the Association, run by volunteers, work directly with and serve visually impaired persons to help them overcome isolation and provide them with the means to lead a normal life, as autonomous as possible. The Valentin Haüy Committee of the Yvelines, based in Versailles since 2002, aims to implement the Association's services on the ground by operating in the Yvelines department. It has established branches in the main cities of the Yvelines: Saint-Germain-en-Laye, Mantes, Rambouillet, Les Mureaux, and Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
