AHADI FOUNDATION

People with disabilities face structural obstacles that expose them to greater precarity. These inequalities disproportionately affect disabled women, due to intersecting discrimination related to gender and disability. Globally, disabled women are three times more likely to be illiterate, twice as unlikely to have access to employment, and three times more exposed to unmet health needs. When they work, they encounter specific barriers at each stage of their career path: limited guidance, restricted access to training, obstacles to job retention and career advancement. They experience double segregation, both horizontal (types of accessible jobs) and vertical (access to positions of responsibility). These discriminations take multiple forms: refusal of workplace accommodations, exclusion from training programs, moral or sexual harassment, violence. In France, nearly four out of five disabled women report having been victims of violence during their lifetime. In response to these findings, the AHADI Foundation works to durably transform the trajectories of disabled women.
