Mission description

The GEM (mutual support group) is a place that promotes social connection and combats social isolation. Members of the GEM all have brain injuries from various life accidents (head trauma, stroke, aneurysm rupture, etc.) and carry cognitive or motor impairments of varying severity. Many have invisible disabilities that can hinder their relationships with others. Isolation is a consequence of brain injury-related disability. Yet for every person, it is essential to spend time with friends, participate in activities, and socialize. The GEM creates this space to foster meaningful connections.
